The Minimum Wage series was an attempt to make a piece that could be sold at the price of a full day’s shift while being paid minimum wage. This came from my years spent as a minimum wage worker, and the ensuing existential angst and frustration it bred in me. So, formally the pieces are all 8.5”x11”, purposely the size of printer paper, and comprised mostly of transfers made on an office printer. The content itself came from the surroundings of the Service Worker. Strip malls, fast food joints, as well as imagery of violence and consumption. Ultimately the work was a reaction, or coming to terms with, a professional life defined by a sort of nihilistic, meaningless labor.
